At the heart of my work is a deep belief in connection and the inherent strengths of individuals. Little Lights Therapy Company is an extension of my lived and professional learning, the teachings I’ve been gifted, and the voices of the community that continue to guide me.
I am a Red River Métis woman rooted in Treaty Three Territory, and my work is shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I hold a Master of Social Work from Western University, and my approach has grown through years of practice in school systems, child protection, and community-based mental health. I am guided by a Two-Eyed Seeing lens - a way of holding both my professional training and the cultural teachings I’ve been gifted. This perspective grounds me personally and professionally, and helps me approach this important work in a holistic, balanced way.
Over the years, I’ve supported children, youth, families, and caregivers across Northwestern Ontario, building meaningful connections with schools, agencies, and communities along the way. People often describe my presence as calm and grounded, while also being playful and inviting - someone who makes it easy to connect and build trust with.
My approach is always relational first - whether we’re sitting on the floor in therapeutic play, or holding space for big questions or quiet moments. I believe the difficult discussions are important, but I also know healing can hold both depth and lightness. Laughter, humour, and joy are just as welcome in the therapy room as tears.
Little Lights Therapy Company is an extension of that approach: heartfelt and human. Designed to meet you exactly where you are.
After years of working across child welfare, school-based mental health, and outreach, I saw how often families were left without the consistent, culturally sensitive care they deserved. Long waitlists. Overworked systems. Youth falling through the cracks.
This practice is a response to that.
Little Lights offers something different: a place where relationship leads the work, care is personalized, and healing is never rushed or forced. We exist to support those often underserved by the system - especially Indigenous youth and families - with support that’s accessible, ethical, and truly connected.
Our practice is grounded in nervous system-informed, trauma-aware care - always shaped by cultural humility, playfulness, and collaboration.
This isn’t one-size-fits-all therapy. It’s relational support, tailored to each visitor who walks through our doors.
Ericka is currently completing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training and will be recognized as an EMDR-trained therapist as of January 9, 2026.
While Little Lights Therapy is based in Kenora, Ontario, we offer in-person and virtual support across Treaty Three Territory and throughout the province. From local families to First Nations communities to young adults living a few towns away, if our approach resonates, you’re welcome here.
