Melissa King is a Registered Social Worker with nearly 20 years of experience working alongside children and youth, including 10 years providing mental health services. Born and raised in Kenora, Melissa has supported children, families, and communities throughout Treaty Three Territory.

She began her mental health career as a bicultural counsellor, working alongside Elders to provide culturally informed and supported care to young people. Over the past several years, she has worked within the school system, helping children and teens navigate anxiety, big emotions, school challenges, friendships, substance use, trauma, and the many changes that come with growing up.

At the heart of Melissa's work is connection. She believes that when young people feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for, they have space to explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and build confidence in themselves.

Her approach is compassionate, relationship-focused, and identity-affirming. Melissa enjoys incorporating creativity, art, movement, mindfulness, and nature into her work, always following the interests, needs, and strengths of each young person. At Little Lights, Melissa supports school and community partnerships throughout Treaty Three Territory.

Melissa is currently supporting Little Lights' school and community partnerships and is not accepting individual office bookings at this time.
